Leonardo Linares
Mexico City, Mexico
My name is Leonardo Linares. I was born into a family of sculptors, began crafting cartonería (paper and paste) sculptures as a child. When I was 15 years old, I was instructing internationally in Tokyo. My art has graced cultural centers and museums worldwide, spanning Europe, North America, and Asia.
I have participated in different editions of “Big Masters of Mexican Folk Art”. Currently I have permanent pieces on exhibitions in different museums in Mexico and other countries. Being a member of the Mexican Folk Art Collective since 2021, I dedicate my life to preserving Mexico’s rich artistic heritage and fostering global cultural exchange.
Leonardo participated on the Mexican Folk Art Collective – Binational Hispanic Heritage Month conversations, on 2021, in collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico in Milwaukee, the McIntosh Memorial Library and the Mexican Cultural Institute of Washington D.C.
